Kimi & Ritz - Eddie (1973)

Last night I took a trip down the Rocky Horror rabbit hole and I'll tell you what, I didn't find any rabbits. What I did find was a bunch of cool Richard O'Brien tracks (writer of The Rocky Horror Show). Here's a version of "Eddie's Teddy" he recorded with his then wife Kimi Wong, released the same year the musical premiered. It's got a real pretty surfy / girl group sound. I love it.

From the day he was bornHe was troubleHe was the thornIn his mother's sideShe tried in vainBut he never caused her nothing but shameHe left home the day she died

From the day she was goneAll he wantedWas rock 'n' roll pornAnd a motorbikeShooting up junkHe was a low-down cheap little punkTaking everyone for a ride

When Eddie said he didn't like his teddyYou knew he was a no-good kidBut when he threatened your lifeWith a switchblade knifeWhat a guy!Makes you cry!
And I did

Everybody shoved himI very nearly loved himI said "Hey, listen to meStay sane inside insanity!"But he shut the door and threw away the key

But he must have been drawnInto somethingMaking him warnMe in a note which reads"I'm outta my headOh hurry, or I may be dead! They mustn't carry out their evil deeds!"

When Eddie said he didn't like his teddyYou knew he was a no-good kidBut when he threatened your lifeWith a switchblade knifeWhat a guy!Makes you cry!And I did
 Eddie

  1. I kind of hate that the best version of this song is damn near impossible to find on a regular streaming service. :)
