The Revelons - 97 Tears (1979)

Hey there Heartbreaker. Today we have a true hidden gem. Sounds like something between Television, The Cars, and The Modern Lovers. I was unaware of this band until yesterday and I've listened to this track about 30 times since. I can't find much info on this band except they played NYC during the punk boom of the late 1970s, this was their only released single, and it sounds like Tom Verlaine of Television on vocals here. Not sure. But I am sure I dig it. Hope you do too.

On a completely different note, I've also discovered something called the December 31st, 1969 glitch. Apparently my recent posts keep trying to back date to that day. It was a great year for music but not so much so for blogs. More on this later...

    Well, I can definitely be friends with the Revlons!

    Finally, it appears we have discovered another reason for time travel.

Cindy & Bert - Der Hund Von Baskerville (1971) Cindy & Bert, a German vocal duo (and married couple) mainly played breezy tunes akin to say, Sonny & Cher. Apparently they were quite successful with a number of pop hits on the German charts through the 70s. This here though - it's a bit of a mind boggle. We have our happy couple covering Sabbath's 1970 hit Paranoid, in the German language, but they changed the lyrics to something concerning Arthur Conan Doyle's crime novel "The Hound of the Baskervilles" (published 1902) which is a story of Sherlock Holmes investigating an allegedly demonic dog.  What ties together Black Sabbath and Sherlock Holmes? Truly nothing I can think of. For additional confusion we get this performance with Bert and Cindy in front of a spooky foggy castle backdrop. It has a similar look to a Hammer horror film.
