Tarantula Ghoul & Her Gravediggers - Graveyard Rock (1959)

Here's a real blast from the past. 

Suzanne Waldron (aka Tarantula Ghoul) was "the hostess with the mostest" on a local late night TV show in Portland, Oregon called House Of Horror in the late 1950s. Similar to Vampira before her and Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark after. Unfortunately it seems there is no known existing footage of the actual show but we have some pictures and this awesome 45.

Right from the jump we get her spooky and somewhat shocking introduction. Then we just get a rockin' good time. And keep in mind the release date - this is three years before Bobby "Boris" Pickett was doing the Monster Mash. 

"The party's over boys... So close those coffin lids..."

Cindy & Bert - Der Hund Von Baskerville (1971) Cindy & Bert, a German vocal duo (and married couple) mainly played breezy tunes akin to say, Sonny & Cher. Apparently they were quite successful with a number of pop hits on the German charts through the 70s. This here though - it's a bit of a mind boggle. We have our happy couple covering Sabbath's 1970 hit Paranoid, in the German language, but they changed the lyrics to something concerning Arthur Conan Doyle's crime novel "The Hound of the Baskervilles" (published 1902) which is a story of Sherlock Holmes investigating an allegedly demonic dog.  What ties together Black Sabbath and Sherlock Holmes? Truly nothing I can think of. For additional confusion we get this performance with Bert and Cindy in front of a spooky foggy castle backdrop. It has a similar look to a Hammer horror film.
