The Rockin' Vickers - I Go Ape (1964) Hey. Check it out. It's the Rockin' Vickers blazing through a cover of a Neil Sedaka song. They eventually had Lemmy from Motorhead in the band, but not as of this recording, so I suppose that's not really relevant. Have a nice day.

Groovie Goolies - One, Two, Three (1970) Hey kiddo. Hey tiger. Hey champ... Don't play hide and seek with ghosts, okay? Sound reasonable? Sound good? Cool with that? Well, hmm... If not, I guess the Groovie Goolies will explain the consequences...

Jan & Dean - The Anaheim, Azusa And Cucamonga Sewing Circle , Book Review And Timing Association   (1964) Hey there space dudes and wave riders. Today we come back down to earth to read a book, knit a cap, and spin out on the lawn with a cult of rock n roll grandmas. Jan & Dean were like the wild and weird Beach Boys and they really go all out here.

Perrey & Kingsley - Spooks In Space (1967)  And now for something completely different...

X - Suck Suck (1980) Today we have a true punk banger from down under. Listen to that pummeling bass! Listen to that jagged guitar! Listen to that life advice!           "It’s really very simple and it’s not that hard to do Just try and use the people like they’re trying to use you Compromise your politics that’s all you’ll ever need If you’re gonna suck suck suck suck suck suck suck succeed It's anywhere and everywhere, what you're prepared to do You stuff the guts of business men so they can shit on you It's really very civil and it's not hard to believe If you’re gonna suck suck suck suck suck suck suck succeed So cut your hair, wash your face, keep your image clean Try to be well spoken when they ask you where you’ve been Its really very civil and its not hard to believe If you’re gonna suck suck suck suck suck suck suck succeed If you’re gonna suck suck suck suck suck suck suck succeed "

Elli & Jacno  - Main Dans La Main (1980)  What can I say? I enjoy being confused all the time.

Toy Love - The Crunch (1980) Tonight we're getting just about 2 minutes and 18 seconds older with this lovely punky jam from New Zealand. I highly recommend these guys to anyone interested in lesser known indie bands of the era. Enjoy.

Accept - Fast As A Shark (1982) Hey Headbangers. Today we can ditch the hairspray but probably keep on our denim jackets as we ping pong all around the 80s into whatever oblivion awaits. And now it's a double bass speed thrash power metal classic from Germany. It's fast as a shark and it's truly glorious.

Julie Brown - Girl Fight Tonight! (1987) Today we have a video from multi-talented actress, writer, musician, and comedian Julie Brown from back in the day when you could turn on MTV and possibly catch this squeezed between Smooth Criminal and Welcome To The Jungle. What a great time for popular music. "You asked him if he gets lonely. Now you're asking to be dead. Girl fight tonight!"

Dead Moon - Dead Moon Night (1989) Here it is. Radar Love on a bad trip. Highway Star with three flat tires. L.A. Woman in the breakdown lane. Paranoid for real as the dotted line disappears. A nightmare with wide open eyes. Dead Moon Night. Dead Moon Night. "D for disaster E for my eyes A for my anger D before I die M for Mona O oh good O oh good N for the night Dead Moon Night Dead Moon Night"

Frank Soda & The Imps - No Talk All Action City (1980) Hey there punk. Check out these charming Canadian Smashers!

Paul Newman - Plastic Jesus [from Cool Hand Luke]   (1967) An absolute beauty. Paul Newman, crying, in jail, with a banjo, band practice alone, fumble through the lyrics until the words come to mind. Perfection.

John Kramer  - Pack Your Valise   (1967) Happy Valentines.

Kimi & Ritz - Eddie (1973) Last night I took a trip down the Rocky Horror rabbit hole and I'll tell you what, I didn't find any rabbits. What I did find was a bunch of cool Richard O'Brien tracks (writer of The Rocky Horror Show). Here's a version of "Eddie's Teddy" he recorded with his then wife Kimi Wong, released the same year the musical premiered. It's got a real pretty surfy / girl group sound. I love it.   From the day he was born He was trouble He was the thorn In his mother's side She tried in vain But he never caused her nothing but shame He left home the day she died   From the day she was gone All he wanted Was rock 'n' roll porn And a motorbike Shooting up junk He was a low-down cheap little punk Taking everyone for a ride   When Eddie said he didn't like his teddy You knew he was a no-good kid But when he threatened your life With a switchblade knife What a guy! Makes you cry!   And I did   Everybody shoved him I very...

Gino Parks - Fire (1962) Good morning. Last night we had a warm up shot of rhythm and blues. Today we're gonna turn those dials up all the way with a high energy scorcher from Gino Parks. There really isn't anything like it in the early Motown / Tamla catalogue. Enjoy.

Arthur Alexander - A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues (1962) It's mid February and I've got a classic case of the February Fuck Its, so tonight let's go with a warm shot of rhythm and blues... So, don't you worry 'bout a thing When you start to dance and sing And chill bumps come up on you And when that rhythm finally hits you When the beat gets you through Well, here's the thing for you to do You need a shot of rhythm and blues With just a little rock an roll on the side Just for good measure

DFL - Pizza Man (1994) Today we have something a little different. This one's for my buddy and lifelong brother Jason. Here's something fun we used to rock out to in the way back. Hopefully y'all enjoy it too.  *Also, shout out to CF for the best punk rock mixtape anyone has ever made for another human being at a formative age.

The Splash Band - The End (Sound Version) (1984) Good evening. Tonight we get to listen to some sweet mid-80s German space disco horror synth. These guys reworked several John Carpenter soundtracks including great versions of Halloween, The Fog, and The Thing. This track is a reworking of the brilliant theme to Assault On Precinct 13. Dig those haunting sweeping vocals into the menacing chant  - "Power! Terror! Panic!"  - amid cries for help. Classic.

Exotic Adrian Street   & The Pile Drivers - Breakin' Bones   (1977) The Great American Holiday is here and although it's really tempting to post The Super Bowl Shuffle or one of its crappy knockoffs, we're instead going to Wales for international wrestling star, the one and only Exotic Adrian Street with his flamboyant brand of sadism.  Breakin' Bones was originally released as a single back in the heyday of glam punk in '77. It was re-released on the album Shake, Wrestle 'N' Roll in 1986 with The Pile Drivers and its worth checking out for other gems like "A Sweet Transvestite With A Broken Nose", "Sadist In Sequins", and the classic "Mighty Big Girl". Now it's time to gluttonously enjoy our pizza and beer and chips and artichoke dip and tacos and wings and pretzels and tequila and edibles and antacids, and toss the rock around with friends and family and strangers, and hope that silly prop bet about the duration of th...

The Telefones  -  Let's Go Bowling   (1980) Hey dudes. At some point I will tell you how trading in a bowling alley for a prison is a terrible idea for a small New England town. But not right now. For now let's appreciate this punky riff with wild horns and a man who is passionate about his hobby with a serious disdain for someone who won't join in.

Tuff Darts  -  My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms   (1978) Good evening. Here's a beauty from 1978 NYC, a sorta glam punk love song from a guitar player to his guitar, which seems to have become sentient while he succumbs to its will. And as they merge through blood, uncertain, we get to hear some magic. I'd love to let go as my guitar starts to glow In flashes of red that squeeze out and they spread My guitar lies bleeding in my arms

The Little Girls  -  Earthquake Song   (1983) If you enjoy earthquakes this is the song for you.

Carmine Capobianco & Debi Thibeault - Psychos In Love (1987) Here we have the theme song to the 1987 Z Movie Connecticut classic comedy "Psychos In Love." Check out that bangin' Casio beat and stay for the grapes.

The Nutley Brass -  Beat On The Brat   (1999) Good evening. Let's all kick back, pour ourselves something tasty and relax to the soothing sounds of The Nutley Brass while we nonchalantly beat on the brat. What can you lose?

Bruno Nicolai  -  Servizio Fotografico   (1972) from La Dama Rossa Uccide Sette Volte (The Red Queen Kills Seven Times) Good evening. Here's Bruno Nicolai's beautiful theme to the classic Italian giallo. The dreamy melody plays in many variations throughout the film ranging from sweet to creepy lullaby to completely sinister. This track is probably the most accessible and playable as a stand alone without any other context but I do recommend the soundtrack in full as well. Enjoy...

Tenpole Tudor - W ü nderbar (1981) It's February and that means it's time for some sardonic positivity, so here we go...
